与上一代产品相比新品森海塞尔PC161在外观设计上并无太大改进，只是在颜色方面与PC160有所不同。森海塞尔PC161属于半封闭式游戏耳机，虽然耳罩两边的海绵耳垫不能包住耳朵，但佩带起来非常舒适，隔音效果也很不错。
森海塞尔PC161的头箍设计并不象低端产品PC131那样可以轻易弯折，头箍下方的软皮质让玩家在使用时倍感舒适。
森海塞尔PC系列的线控装置大部分都相同，除了有可调节音量的旋钮外，还配有一个话筒静音开关。当玩家不使用语音功能时，可以关闭它，方便玩家的日常应用。
